Use responsible adult management

An under-18 profile should be managed by a parent, legal guardian or properly authorised responsible coach. Communication about opportunities should include that adult and follow the club or governing body’s communication policy.

• No private one-to-one messaging with a child
• No school, home address or routine on a public profile
• Use age category rather than unnecessary full birth details
• Record consent for images and public information

Build safeguarding into the event

Name the event safeguarding lead and reporting route. Plan supervision, changing arrangements, photography, travel, medical provision and what happens if a child becomes separated from their responsible adult. The NSPCC Sport guidance recommends visible policies, trained people and clear ways to report concerns.

Matching a young fighter

Age, weight and experience controls must follow the exact rules of the responsible body. Developmental difference matters as well as dates and kilograms. Listen to the young person, both coaches and the parent or guardian; willingness does not override safety or formal approval.

If something worries you

Record facts, preserve relevant information and follow the club or governing body reporting procedure. Speak to the designated safeguarding or welfare officer. Where a child may be at immediate risk, contact the police or local Children’s Services; Fight Finder is not an emergency service.
